The Snohomish County Public Safety Sales Tax, Prop 1, is an investment in the safety, security, and livability of our communities.
Prop 1 makes critical investments in our county’s public safety infrastructure to combat the drug crisis and bolster our criminal justice system. Prop 1 will pay for additional law enforcement officers, judicial resources, and emergency services. In addition, Prop 1 would fund critical community safety programs, including enhanced drug treatment facilities and youth violence prevention.

Increased Funding will Increase Law Enforcement Officers
Enhance community safety, expedite criminal legal processes, and improve neighborhood conditions to create a more secure and supportive environment for residents, including:
- Hire additional law enforcement officers to ensure criminals are held accountable
- Boost resources for the Courts, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Office of Public Defense to prosecute crimes swiftly and effectively
- Enhance Snohomish County EMS to relieve pressure on our hospital emergency rooms and improve response to emergencies
- Reduce the visible impact of crime by removing graffiti and abandoned vehicles like RVs
Increased Funding Will Improve Drug Treatment
Provide essential support for substance recovery and mitigate the impact of the opioid crisis on first responders, including:
- Build a secure detox facility to expand services for safe drug treatment
- Expand the medication-assisted treatment program to treat addiction in jails
- Establish harm reduction services to mitigate the impact of the opioid crisis on firefighters and EMS
Increased Funding Will Provide Community Support
Provide vital support for vulnerable residents and foster a safer environment for our community’s youth, including:
- Establish a second community resource center to provide support for those getting off the streets
- Create and expand programs focused on preventing youth violence
- Supplement emergency 911 dispatch services
